Something a bit different could be a glass-pipeline going through the water (without water in it of course)
could be part of an underwater base, underground railroad, racetrack etc., it's up to you!

a tunnel is doable, as long as it is square, or else youll be carving the water.
Also, move the docks further away from each other, and make them float.
